A New Name.

Yup, don't worry. You are in the right blog. You are still in my blog, Chin Fern aka Fern's blog.

I decided to change the title of my blog.

From the "Colourful Black Records" to now the "I've got Sunshine!"

I think the name now is more "Tan Chin Fern". Haha.

So, put on your shades, the Sun might shine too bright.

Stay tune for more Sunshine updates!

*Apologies for very slow updates. I'm now trying to turn over a new leaf . XD*

Can't Bangkok with Kenny..='(

Still remember the Kenny Sia's "Eat A Chip Like Kenny Sia" Contest that I joined?

I still remember how enthusiastic I was to join the contest and how badly I wanted to win. All my zest onto winning the prize for the contest:

[ all expense paid Bangkok trip? For 2! Chatuchak Market? And the main main main attraction : Going with, non-other than, Kenny Sia! Him, being the personal tour guide. ]

I sent as many entries of photos as I could. Displaying some quirkiness in my photos...alas, none of them took the hearts of the panel judges from Mister Potato and most importantly Mr Kenny Sia himself.

So it proves that I actually couldnt eat a chip like Kenny Sia when I thought I could.

-- This is how he eats --

-- These are how I eat --

I can't make my chip fly high and munch it. Maybe this is the factor. Too bad.

But suprisingly, the winner shot of the contest is this..

Mister Potato, according to them, is a good motivation for sit-ups?

Cincai la.

I don't see why this is creative, but congrats to the winner though.

I still like mine better. =)

Sorry Kenny, you can't go Bangkok with me. Too bad. =P

Let you fall also don't want to let you eat Mister Potato!

P.S. Lee Phey Chien, I still remember you wished me Luck and hope to see me put up a post on my trip to Bangkok with Kenny Sia...Hmmmm...will not happen for now, YET though. But I reckon, one day will. Let's see...=)

KDU Idol Craze #2

This is the stage where I am going to shine later.

Later, 12pm-3pm. The KDU Idol semifinal.

The time now is 5:49am and I am here updating my blog. ALAMAK!

For heaven's sake, I was too excited to get into my dreamland. This wasn't my first time ever being in a singing competition, but my brain is getting its adrenalin's rushing high, too high in fact. ALAMAK! Too excited to fall into sleep!

I remembered the last time this was happening was the day before I went to watch Jay Chou's debut film as a director, "不能说的秘密 Secret". Crazy, am not I? And that was even before I idolised him. ALAMAK! It was just because people told how good and how amazingly awesome this movie, I couldn't sleep for the whole night.

Tomorrow is KDU Idol semi-final. Oh, I mean later. And my brain is not letting me sleep. WHY??

This is already the 'dunno-how-many' time I will be on stage. Why is my brain still so so so excited like this is its first time?

I lied on my bed at 1.30am. And I tried to listen to some music before I go to sleep and listen...and listen...and listen....and listen...HOI! why am I am not sleeping yet. Tomorrow competition, I need my voice to be perfect. So sleep la, bay-beh!

And rolled here and rolled there on my bed. And still I am not sound asleep. I shut my eyes, but they collaborate with my mind to just shut too. GO to sleep I mean!

And there I am thinking, why would I want to waste my mind lying on the bed, forcing myself to sleep when my adrenalin is rushing so high, so I decided to do something, to update my blog.

For an in-college singing competiton, I can't sleep. Imagine if I am getting married next time? Three days before my day, I am already so wide awake and can't wait to push my wedding earlier so that me and my future husband can get married earlier -.-

"Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat isn't working. I mean this was the initial song that i chose so that I can sing with my guitar but I realise this song isn't working on my side. So that explains my sudden change of song to "咕叽咕叽" (kuci kuci) by Stefani Sun, 孙燕姿, where I only have 2-3 days to memorise the lyrics and to cheoreograph some simple dance steps. But I am the superduperFern, why not? XD

For your info, I used to think this song is annoying! Haha.

I did mentioned this round of competition is 50% judges, 40% voting and 10% disiplinary and attitudes. But I turn out to be wrong, it would be a 100% judges round of competition. The former one applies only to the Final. So no matter how popular I could be, the only thing is to strut my stuff on stage.

I appreciate everyone else's greeting and support shown to me. I shall do my best and perform the best of me to You. Thank you very very very much.

(P.S Lee Phey Chien, this is the one thing that I'm up to today, this is what I mean in the sms I sent you, don't you get it? Still waiting for your greeting leh. )

People, here comes Fern! Be sure to be there to see, see me perform. =)

KDU Idol Craze #1

I saw this up on notice boards around the college campus.

The very first "KDU Idol" title is up for grabs!

Since I can sing, I can dance, so in order to earn my bragging rights, I decided to go for an audition. Haha.

To my surprise, the response received wasn't as I've expected. I thought there will be a whole lot of people that will insist on show their stuff (even some might not have it), and think they are best and is the next hot-talk idol.

On the day of audition, I got the 10th for my turn.

That's my number, bay-beh!

My birth date, the 10th.
So I reckon I do stand great chance to get through the next round, don't I?

But..this number is not by chance or by luck, not even coincidence. When I registered myself, I purposely waited to be the 10th person to write in my name. By hook or by crook, I have to get number 10. Crazy. haha. Too fanatic about the number 10. LOL.

We had to have our full-size and half-size self-portrait taken before going into the audition room.

I thought my photoshoot experience from Estee Lauder Model Search audition should come in handy in terms of posing, but nope, doesn't work the same. I still don't know how to pose, the only thing i can show is still my million-dolar smile. Hah!

Oh, talking about Estee Lauder Model Search, I think shall put it for my next post, for your viewing pleasure (boleh cuci-mata, I hope XD) since I have never yet to do so.

Back to the audition, I courageously chose a song that I don't really know and can't really remember the lyrics. I know I shouldn't have chose that song but I think the song suits me really well and i like it. So I'm taking it for a bet.

I sang 新不了情,xin bu liao qing.

Of course I did flunk the lyrics part. But the judges were pretty impressed.............

Yes, I couldn't be wrong that the judges were impressed...........

This poster is currently all over KDU Penang Campus, in lifts, notice boards, glass doors and every other prominent areas of KDU.

Because during the weekend I received a call to inform me I was in the semi-finals!

The Monday after it we were asked to dress up for a photo shoot. I didn't know this event can get so big. They even have a photo shoot. Haha.

The theme for the photoshoot was black. I was a bit worried. Black. Black is not so my colour, how can I manage to find nice black outfit in my closet...Hmmm..

I search my closet up and down, explore my mum's wardrobe left and right and finally I come up with a combination of this.

Not quite bad, am I? XD

We had a briefing before the photoshoot.

The two categories from the initial audition, which is the singing category and the dancing category, will be competing for one final title up for grabs, the very first "KDU Idol".

The winner determining-factor for this round of competition, which is the semi-final comprise of: 50% judges and 40% voting. Where does the other 10% fall? 10%, is for our disciplinary and attitudes.

First time I heard this actually count in a talent show competition. Anyway, doesn't matter me much, since I have always been a GOOD girl. =D

Jeffery.

We had a group photo shoot and video recording on that day itself.

We are not supposed to smile but to look serious and to act cool. So not me. Cannot display my Million-dolar smile pula.

Until the last photo, I cannot tahan d. I curi-curi smile a bit. Actually even without me realising it myself. So I'm perhaps...erm...born to smile. XD

After that we proceeded to an individual video recording of the semi-finalist. Talking about when they started singing, what are going to do next, who inspired to join KDU Idol, what's your biggest advantage etc etc.

The last one was to record a video to pull for votes.

Things like: I'm the best of the best of the best of the best. So, don't be stupid, just vote for me.

or

You no eyes ar? I'm so beautiful and I sing like "Maria Carry". You don't vote for me, vote for who?

Nope. Of course not. No one said that. Not even Miss thick skin Tan Chin Fern. XD

I can't form my words correctly at that point of time. I blurted out something that I hope it does sound convincing for people to vote for me. Haha.

And...I somehow didn't realise I did this pose during the video recording. Alamak!
