Zheng Yue Chu Yi

正月初一! Dong Dong Chiang!

Haha. Nola. Wasn't that fun and excited.

Oh it means, first day of Chinese New Year if you don't read chinese. Heh.

My Chinese New Year this year felt different. It's such a distance away from how I felt when I celebrated Chinese New Year so hectically when we were all younger.

Like how we used to be so Busy:
-visiting
-picking the best cookies in the rounded spinning tray
-drinking packets and packets of Chrysanthemum drink
-taking angpows
-eating steamboat
-peeling the tangerin oranges
-playing fire crackers
Last but not least, busy getting fatter each and everyday

All these somehow slipped away. Sigh. I was eagerly waiting for Chinese New Year to arrive, to wear my new year dress but ended up got me having a boring 正月初一.

Dad wasn't around to celebrate together due to work. So CNY 2010 was really different without having a handsome Daddy to see the first thing in the morning.

I put on a red hot chilli pepper dress on 正月初一 but I didn't get to show off my awesome dress to a lot of people. In the morning, a few relatives came but aiya, good things need to let more people see. So let me show off to you hereee. ;D

SDC16615a

THERE! ;D

Red dress on the first day of Chinese New Year!

Purposely put the pink flowers there to make in more CNY-ish. Hahahahahahaha. Lame shit.

My heels are damm awesome. But they made my feet wanna scream every step I take. T_T

Poor feet.

Ohhh. Show you my makeup too!

SDC16544

Actually not much make-up. Hehe.

I just want to show you how exaggerated I look in my dramatic eyelashes that I purposely bought to look funny.

I don't usually wear falsies, not even for my performance. The last time I wore was for, hmmm, Halloween. Hahaha.

Anyway I kinda regret wearing it cos I actually like the dramatic eyelashes look. Die liao. That means I would wear it more often than I would expect myself to. Geees. I officially announce fake eyelashes as my addictive new friend.

My poker card earrings is awesome rightt. Bought it from Bangkok! Wore it so that I can win in my chinese new year gambling session. (didn't exactly work though =S)

Basically, me and mum stayed at home for whole day except for dinner, while sis and her boyfriend went out to celebrate Valentine. Sigh. Super sien okay. Keep watching the Taiwan CNY Game Show filmed on 2008 only. (My house is Astro-less)

So sien that I decided to camwhore with mummy.

SDC16548a

Took super a lot of shots. Only this one turned out right.

Fast forward to dinner at night. (Unless you want to know the content of the Taiwan CNY Game Show 2008. hahaha.)

Don't expect to get good food during CNY. We stopped by at a hawker place that we've never been to and fill our stomach with whatever food that doesn't require long waiting time.

The place was packed. We still had to wait a bit for our food, so I used the time to camwhore a bit again.

SDC16553

The two human beings on the left laughing happily cos they are holding some lottery ticket and were saying some prosperous words so that they will strike the number on the next draw date. Hahahaha.

SDC16560

Mirror at hawker place!
Sissty and mee.

My smile damm slutty. Must be because of the eyelashes. Or the hair.

After dinner we got back home and did some part in polluting the air.

Sorry, but what is CNY without some fire crackers! Hoho.

SDC16573

Actually didn't really pollute the air la. I'm a Go-Green person, is just that I'm wearing Red on that day.

Hmmmm.

Sorry. Too lame. I know. :DDDD

We spend most of the time playing the flaming sticks only. Okay, actually I don't know what are they called. Flaming sticks, is just because it sounds a bit cooler.

How nostalgic.
SDC16572a

Both of us used to be big fan of this flaming sticks when we were still little kids, running round and about not knowing how big this world is.

We would wave the sticks around and I will sing some tune to the swaying.

I remember I barely had hair on my head at time. I looked funny and people would mistaken me as a boy.

Hahaha. Cute lil' girlish boy.

Those were the days! ;D

SDC16574

Haha. I think I was singing to that tune I sang when I was a little kid.

SDC16584a

Pop-Pop pao!
Don't tell me you have never played this before, I will laugh at you. ;P

Even if you really never play before, just don't tell me. Cos I don't know how long I will laugh.

SDC16601
Me and lovely Money!

Happy Chinese New Year to you! ;)

Still a week more to go before you call it an end, enjoy while you can!

Happee See-Ann-Why

Forgot to wish Happy Dong Dong Chiang to you! ;)

Gong Xi Fa Chai | Gong Hei Fatt Choi | Keong Hee Huat Chai

Which ever that sounds more familiar and warmth to you! ;D

I like Gong Hei Fatt Choi more but here in Penang is usually Keong Hee Huat Chai one! But don't care la, as long as it wishes me more prosperity, enough. Hehe.

Updates on what I wore for Chinese New Year up next! I want to show off to you my beautiful clothes since I didn't really get to parade my clothes outside this year.

Sigh.

Chinese New Year has changed. I hope it can go back feeling as hot and as warmth as how the scorching sun is outside.

Walao. Sweat non-stop in my beautiful new year clothes okay.

Gaaaa.

The result

Hoho. When you see there's no exhilarated status updates in facebook or an excited short update here, you kinda can guess I actually didn't win the competition.

IMG_0309

Anyway, I really didn't win. Not even a bloody Top 6 which I aimed for. But the performance on stage that night was one of the rare few times that I felt really satisfied with.

IMG_0310

To a lot of performers, that's what you want to achieve on stage, the rather hard-earned self-satisfaction. But to a contestant, things might not just be that simple. The fact that we need to impress the judges, kept knocking our door, reminding us now and then.

So sometimes, 'just be yourself' is easier said then done, especially when you want to win.

IMG_0784

But really, I do not fancy the cliche people would tell me: Aiya, results doesn't matter as long as you did your best. Plus it's for the experience rightt.

IMG_0328

Rightt. I know. I have a lot of this kind of experience already. So now actually I'm making use of my experience to try to win this competition, but oh well, sighh.

I mean I know I did my best I could, and DUH, I do expect something in return for something that I poured my heart and soul into. The results DOES MATTER to me. I want to win. At least at that moment of time during the announcement of results or even after that, it still does matter to me.

IMG_0332

But maybe next day, the results really doesn't matter to me anymore la. Like seriously, do I really have to stop singing just because 3 PERSON think that I'm not the one to win this competition? You must be kidding me.

If Jay Chou took in all the criticism and insults and sulked with it, during his younger years, today you won't even know who's Jay Chou. Someone else would be the top earning singer in Taiwan today and nobody will scream hysterically to the name 'zhou jie lun'.

Anyway, not my first time losing. When I was younger, I used to cry and wail badly about my losses in a competition, especially when it comes to singing and short distance running competition. But, I have grown out of it now. It's when you accept the defeat, that you leap to the next stage in life. From a crying baby, the young lady has smile and confide herself about her defeats and certainly, her wins too!

IMG_0317

If it is not for all my defeats and failures, I would not have sung like how I would today.

My feelings and thoughts aside, the next best thing that happen was a lot of my family and friends went over to support me! One even came all the way from Singapore! ;)

Okay, can spot your name here:
mum, sis + bf, nicholas, jelly, hui theng, shi-lir-ang, esTee, aaron, aunty chooiphung, ghee, yeoh, tiger, choon + wifey, xiao di, ken, seng and other people in the floor that think that I'm actually good! ;)

And also the some other sms and facebook good luck wishes and care! Really appreciate them! =D

If it's not for you people who believe in me, I would not have the strength to pick up myself during the times when I faltered.

If you like music played LIVE

then you are in for a treat! ;)

If you put a \m/ rocker sign when it comes to local bands (like me!), you are in for even a better treat!

If you couldn't resist shrieking like a crazy fan when it comes Estranged (!!!!), BitterSweet and PureVibracion, then you must not miss this event this coming Saturday!

StudioC is bringing you an awesome line-up of The Live Side of Music by the 3 bands of different music genre at Sixty9ine (Beside Holiday Inn) Batu Ferringi, Penang on the 6th of Feb, which is this Saturday! ;)

19063_1313279066163_1056242482_969696_7700328_n

So yes, Estranged is coming! The band that sang that very nice 'Itu Kamu' song! Don't tell me you don't know man.

artist_est
I know this photo is mini, but it's too cute a photo not to put up!

I swear they are one of the best bands in Malaysia! Google and look at the awards that have bagged these years, you will get why I say they are one of the best. Plus the song 'Itu Kamu' is awesome! I never like rock music, but that song, very double thumbs-up inducing. Haha. Beautiful lyrics too! Okla, if you really never heard of that song, here.

Also, Out of the 7 locations of the lined-up gigs by Studio C, Penang is the only place that they are gonna perform. So grab the chance to hear them live!

estranged001_std

Oh, girls, check out the drummer, Andy, (most left) when you at that event too! *shys* Heh.

bittersweet-large_std
Bittersweet!

I like their band name. It's like so indecisive, don't know to decide whether it is bitter, or it is sweet; a bit like, hmmmm, sighh, me.

Not that I enjoy being indecisive, for example simple daily things like not knowing what you want to wear today, or where to eat for lunch, or whether to finish your plate of food in front of you, can sometimes be a big headache.

I personally think Bittersweet's music sounds just like what their name suggests. They sound a bit sad but then the beats and rhythm that accompanied the melody is so bouncy and cute and makes you wanna move your body along with the supposedly sad song.

Indeed some indecisive bunch. Anyway, check out their myspace page to get how indecisive music sound like. Heh.

If you think alternative rock/pop rock/whatever kind of rock don't float in your boat, stay on cause you still have PureVibracion to bring you some easy-listening Raggae music!

(Think dread locks, think GreenYellowRed [I don't mean traffic light], think Bob Marley)

backgroundatasnew

Frankly, I have never heard of them before I got to know about this event, but thanks to almighty god Google, I found their myspace page and the songs they have are really fun and cute!

It's so easy-listening and relaxing that you wish you could sing and perform together with them on stage! Hmmm..or maybe that's just how I felt. Haha. Whatever shit.

Anyway, really good Raggae music. They have some Malay Raggae hits too.

So yes, this 3 awesome-posume bands! You can visit their page and stream their songs for hundreds and thousands times, but nothing beats hearing them live!

Oh wait, shit. I just remembered I will be away at Singapore this weekend. T_T

That's means I have to miss this. Sigh. Eat shit.

Of all time, this time. Sigh.

BUT you can still go! Actually, Jazzada is giving out 50 free passes to this awesome event, and supposingly, you have to blog to get the tickets one loh. But then since she has asked me to help her blog about this although I can't make it, I have done your job for you!

Now you just have to make up your mind to go! Email them at jazz@jazzada.com to get your free passes! Include your full name, telephone number and blog link. (Give them my blog link laa) Or visit their page for more details. ;)

So make sure you be there to catch all these awesome local bands! Cintailah product buatan Malaysia, I bet these bands worth your support. ;)

Forget to tell you. Gig starts at 7pm till 11pm; NO COVER CHARGE (wweet-weet), but strictly only human beings 18 and above are allowed to enter the place as Sixty9ine is a beach bar.

I reckon it would be an awesome night of music rendezvous, so YOU MUST GO! ;)
